
ASSAM FLOOD - SITUATION IMPROVES SUBSTANTIALLY IN STATE

Even as the flood situation in Assam improved substantially on July 14, over 2.28 lakh people are still suffering across six districts. The total death toll stood at 193 as there were no new reports of fatalities in the last 24 hours. As per reports of Assam State Disaster Management Authority at least 175 villages and 527 hectares of agricultural fields are submerged by the flood waters. Meanwhile, Assam Water Resources Minister, Pijush Hazarika on July 14 visited the erosion-hit areas at Chabua in Dibrugarh district. Hazarika reviewed the progress of the projects taken up by the Water Resources Department and further directed the department to undertake all preventive measures
