She said this makes up 39 per cent of the total new cases.
“This included 309 in Hume, 180 in Whittlesea, 90 in Moreland, and 50 in Darebin,” Ms Matson said.
She said 29 per cent of the new cases - 514 cases - are in the state’s western suburbs.
She also said cases are “continuing to grow” in south-eastern suburbs, making up 21 per cent - 370 cases - and there are a further 108 new cases in the eastern suburbs.
